However you identify in terms of gender, you can be sexually abused and it can happen in many forms.

In relation to men, there are many untrue myths around this topic.

It is also understudied and very under reported. One of the biggest myths is that if a man has an erection he must be aroused. Getting an erection is an involuntary response. Manual stimulation is all that is required.

Men can also be penetrated by women with objects, or by other men. While men can be made to penetrate, this is not the only form of sexual abuse. This can also include unwanted touching or coercion.

Men can also be drawn into unwanted reproduction via tampered birth control or even being deceived that there is birth control when none exists. While men are still responsible for the risk for their choice to engage in sexual activities, this does not dismiss an abuser for deceiving a target in taking uninformed risks.
